The 10 Best Things to Do in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, from a Local
UPDATED JANUARY 2026
Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is one of New York City’s most dynamic neighborhoods, known for its creative energy, vibrant food scene, and walkable streets along the East River. From cultural spots to everyday local favorites, there’s no shortage of things to do here. In this guide, you’ll find 10 of the best things to do in Williamsburg, offering a well-rounded introduction to the neighborhood from me (a local :).
Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn, NY
Sip on Real Colombian Coffee at DevociĂłn or Pueblo Querido Coffee Roasters
DevociĂłn roasts coffee beans imported directly from Colombia here in Brooklyn within 10 days of leaving their origin, making it the only company in the world that roasts farm-fresh coffee within this short time. Besides their exceptionally fresh coffee, their unique industrial space (a former warehouse) in Williamsburg makes sitting down for a cup of coffee and a chocolate croissant a true experience.
Pueblo Querido Coffee Roasters brings the rich flavors of Colombia to life while sharing a piece of its vibrant culture. Their Williamsburg location in Brooklyn stands as a tribute to Colombian heritage, offering a warm atmosphere and a welcoming staff. It's no wonder this spot is a beloved neighborhood favorite.
2. Make a Bookshop Stop at McNally Jackson Books
One of McNally Jackson’s four NYC locations is here in Williamsburg. It’s an independent bookstore owned by Sarah McNally, a former editor at Basic Books. This thoughtfully curated bookstore offers a wide selection of titles across genres, along with a cozy atmosphere perfect for browsing.
3. Enjoy Sunday in Brooklyn Any Day
Sunday in Brooklyn is a must-visit gem in Williamsburg, known for its warm ambiance and beautifully crafted dishes. Whether you're indulging in their famous hazelnut maple praline pancakes for brunch or savoring creative seasonal plates for dinner, every bite is delicious. Check them out any day of the week; you can’t go wrong.
4. Shop from Local Makers and Creators at Artists & Fleas
Artists & Fleas in Williamsburg is a vibrant marketplace that celebrates creativity and craftsmanship. This eclectic space brings together local artists, designers, and vintage curators, offering a unique mix of handmade goods, one-of-a-kind fashion, jewelry, art, and more. Stop by and support local artists while discovering something unique.
5. Be Transported to Italy with Homemade Gelato from Gelateria Gentile
Gelateria Gentile in Williamsburg is a little slice of Italy in the heart of Brooklyn. They also serve coffee and pastries if you’re in the mood for something else.
6. Dine at Fandi Mata: A Restaurant, Bar, Lounge & Mezcaleria
Fandi Mata is one of those places where the ambiance is just as amazing as the food. This Mediterranean-inspired restaurant blends industrial-chic design with inviting vibes. I highly recommend it for dinner with friends.
7. Watch the Sunset over Manhattan at Domino Park
One of the best things about Williamsburg is catching those Manhattan sunsets! Domino Park is perfectly situated right on the East River. It also has a lot to offer, from a dog park to “social circles” where people like to gather for picnics, a playground, and even a Mexican restaurant in the summer (Tacocina). Come spend the day and stay to watch the sun go down behind that NYC skyline we all love.
8. Take Home Fresh Flowers from Fox Fodder Farm
Fox Fodder Farm is a dreamy floral studio and boutique where you can find some of the most delightful flower arrangements in town. I loved treating myself every now and then to a gorgeous bouquet. A visit here feels like stepping into a peaceful Spring day.
9. Discover Something New to Sip on at Dandy Wine & Spirits
With its emphasis on quality and unique finds, Dandy Wine & Spirits is a go-to destination for those seeking something special to sip. Dandy offers a wide selection of wines, craft spirits, and small-batch liquors. Paired with its approachable yet expert staff, this shop makes it fun to discover something new. Don’t miss their free tastings!
10. Walk or Bike Across the Williamsburg Bridge
The Williamsburg Bridge, I’d say, is a much more laid-back version of what people sometimes confuse it with: the Brooklyn Bridge. You won’t find tourists taking pictures here, but it has character and makes for a great way to easily get to and from downtown Manhattan, either by foot or bike.
Williamsburg is a neighborhood full of energy, creativity, and charm, offering something for everyone. These ten recommendations are just a glimpse of what makes this area so special, but there’s always more to explore. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Williamsburg never disappoints!
